What to do in the Cotswolds: Spring 2016

The Cotswolds thrives all year round, but the run up to summer brings some of the best entertainment in the area. Without further ado, here are some of the top activities, festivals and events to attend during your visit to the Cotswolds this spring:


Easter is just around the corner, and is a perfect way to get the kids out and spend some quality time with the family. The Painswick Egg Hunt starts on Saturday 26th March and includes a huge range of fun activities to get involved in. Alongside the egg hunt your children also have the opportunity to enjoy plenty of food, bouncy castles, face painting, live music and more.

The Cotswolds wouldn’t be the same without the classic cheese rolling event in Gloucestershire! Although an entertaining activity, cheese rolling should not be taken lightly...enter at your own risk for a chance to win some delicious Gloucestershire cheese! The next event takes place on the 30th May.

If cheese rolling isn’t up your street, there’s also the Tetbury Woolsack Races that take place on the same day, and will be supporting some local charities.


On the 28th-30th May, the Blenheim Palace Food Festival commences, showcasing the best food and drink in the local area, as well as interactive entertainment and workshops for children and adults alike.



There are plenty of diverse music events in the Cotswolds this spring, including the Cheltenham Jazz Festival between the 27th - 2nd May. The Chipping Campden International Music Festival also starts in May, featuring inspiring and peaceful concerts from talented musicians around the world.

If you are interested in literature, don’t miss out on the Oxford Literary Festival at the beginning of April. This will feature a range of literary voices covering a host of topics, from the history of the English language to urbanism and culture.

Looking for something to do now? The Stroud Film Festival is taking place until the 20th March, and is featuring everything from animations to short films and documentaries.
