Tours In The Cotswolds With Cotswold Journeys
We specialise in individual Cotswolds tours, whether Cotswold walking tours, Cotswold cycling tours, or tailor made holidays & tours of any kind. The possibilities are almost endless. The Cotswolds is just one of those areas that has everything (except big cities – but then again Birmingham, London, Bristol and Cardiff are all easy train journeys away).
If you are arriving by car or by motorbike and want to tour the area, we can put together an itinerary to include a suggested route that will include the sort of things you want to see and do (to coincide with opening hours), suitable accommodation and anything else you may require. Or if you are arriving by public transport, we will find a route that will allow you to make the best use of local transport.
Let’s take food, for example. If you enjoy good food and drink, then you could devote a few days or a week discovering what is on offer here
The Cotswolds area has more than its fair share of fine pubs in comparison with other parts of the country. Most villages have a pub that will sell not only local real ales but excellent food, from simple snacks to gourmet meals. What makes pubs here special is their atmosphere, the sense that they have been a focus of village life for hundred of years. There is no getting away from it but a good pub in an ancient stone building, with a pretty garden in the summer, or a fire in the winter, is a pleasant place to be. Many Cotswald pubs are working with local farmers and making use of local produce – Gloucester Old Spot pork, Blaisdon Red plums, trout, Tewkesbury mustard, Gloucester sausages and, especially, cheeses. With over 100 Cotswold cheeses on offer the variety is excellent.
There is a growing list of fine restaurants in the Cotswolds. A couple have Michelin star, but there are plenty of others where the quality is high and the cost moderate. We can make recommendations and reservations. Or you could try a cookery course or spend a day browsing in the many fine farmer’s markets that have sprung up in recent years.
