The Best Fruit Picking In The Cotswolds

With an abundance of fruit growing in the Cotswolds it can be really lovely to go along to fruit farms and do some fruit picking.  You know you’re getting the freshest fruit that hasn’t been transported across land and sea, plus it’s quite good fun picking the best-looking produce – if you’ve got children they will really enjoy it too. Many fruit farms have lovely farm shops, cafes, and often play areas or animals for extra entertainment for the kids. So where can the best fruit picking in the Cotswolds be found I hear you say? Here are some of our tried and tested fruit-picking destinations.

 

Primrose Vale Farm, Shurdington, Cheltenham

You could certainly while away a few hours here at Primrose Vale, with fruit picking from late May until October they have 15 different fruit types to pick with the most popular being strawberries. They often have little events on for the children like Halloween pumpkin trails which are really popular and great fun. They also have a rustic play area with sand, swings, slides, and an old tractor that the kids love to climb on. There are rabbits to say hello to, an outdoor cafe, and a lovely farm shop.

 

Hales Fruit Farm, Winchcombe, Cheltenham

Hales Fruit Farm covers 100 acres of gorgeous Cotswold countryside on the outskirts of the picture-perfect little Cotswold town of Winchcombe. With a lovely choice of fruits to select from you can pick to your heart’s content. They have a great farm shop, a cafe for a bite to eat, and a nature trail and clay pigeon shooting on site too.

 

Over Farm, Gloucester

Over Farm is just on the edge of Gloucester but a world away from the city. Come along to pick the current fresh produce of Strawberries, sweetcorn, calabrese, marrows, courgettes, and beetroot. There are lots of things to keep you entertained aside from the fruit picking such as animals that you can pet, a children’s park, and lots of seasonal events. You can buy beautiful produce from the farm shop and have a cuppa in the tea rooms.

 

Clive’s Fruit Farm, Upton-Upon-Severn

You’ll find a lovely farm shop and butchery here at Clives Fruit Farm, as well as fruit picking. Currently, you’ll find apples and plums in season to pick. Visit the juice shop where the family makes fruit juices and cider, meet the pigs, play in the children’s park, or try your hand at the nature trail.

 

Rectory Farm, Stanton St John, Oxford

With raspberries, strawberries and redcurrants, carrots, and mini beetroot currently available to pick in their 45 acres of fields, you’ll find lots of fabulous fruit-picking opportunities at Rectory Farm, along with loads of other things going on. There’s a lovely cafe called The Tractor Shack, with outdoor seating for this balmy summer weather we are experiencing and a farm shop jam-packed with produce.
